4 steps to a healthy dog

In 4 Schritten zu einem gesunden Hund - HenArt® | Nachhaltiges Tierfutter für Hund und Katze
Obesity in pets has increased massively in recent years. As we become busier and have less free time, pet play and walks often take a backseat. Our furry friends need exercise and variety to keep them happy and healthy (just like us). So follow our top tips to help your dog lose weight and get active.

1. KEEP IT ACTIVE

We're often very busy, and walking the dog often takes second place to shopping and social events. 45% of dogs only get up to 30 minutes of exercise per day when walking them.
This is the absolute minimum even for the smallest dogs. Common breeds like Labradors and German Shepherds need over 2 hours of exercise per day. So it's time to blow away the cobwebs and get some fresh air with your dog!
Exercise can be through play, exercise, walking, activity classes like agility, group walks, dog day care, etc.

2. GIVE UP TREATS

As we all know, constant snacking between meals is unhealthy, and the same goes for our dogs. Therefore, reduce the number of treats you give your four-legged friend and only reward them for certain behaviors (picking up a stick, sitting down).

3. DON'T OVERFEED HIM

Overfeeding can also be a major cause of obesity in pets. To prevent this, follow the recommended feeding guidelines on the package and weigh your pet's food with a mini scale. Using cups is inaccurate and can easily be wrong, so take the time to measure accurately.

4. PAY ATTENTION TO A NUTRIENT-RICH & LOW-CALORIES DIET

It is not healthy to reduce portions of regular food as this reduces the nutrients supplied. Unfortunately, it does not make sense for every animal to simply reduce the normal feed. Reducing the recommended feeding requirements will result in a reduction in the amount of nutrients your pet is consuming. It is therefore important to use a nutrient-dense, low-calorie food such as B. Dog food made from 100% insect protein.

CONCLUSION

Keep in mind that just like us, some pets can take longer to lose weight. Conversely, pay attention to how your dog changes and behaves. We recommend speaking to your veterinarian if you are unsure if your dog needs to lose weight or has a medical condition that could be affected by diet or lifestyle changes.
